Президент Швейцарии Иньяцио Кассис на выступлении в ходе общеполитической дискуссии 77-й сессии Генеральной Ассамблеи ООН заявил о нейтральном статусе страны. Его слова приводит ТАСС

Кассис заявил о приверженности Швейцарии нейтралитету и подчеркнул, что Берн не станет оказывать военную помощь ни одной из сторон-участниц конфликтов.

«Швейцария — нейтральная страна. Это означает, что мы строго соблюдаем право на нейтралитет, закрепленное в международном публичном праве. Мы не вовлечены в конфликты и не предоставляем никакой военной поддержки ни одной из сторон конфликта. Ничто не может это изменить или поставить под вопрос», — подчеркнул он.

Однако из речи швейцарского лидера следовало, что Берн достаточно широко интерпретирует нейтральный статус. Он «не означает безразличия» и «отсутствия солидарности», подчеркнул он. «Мы обязуемся защищать принципы свободы, демократии и верховенства права - ценности, которые тоже включены в швейцарскую конституцию», — заключил Кассис.

С 19 сентября Швейцария полностью приостановила упрощенный визовый режим с Россией. В правительстве страны объяснили, что решение основано на действиях Евросоюза и способствует проведению единой визовой политики во всем регионе.
